Our history
Before we came together to create Buffaloe Floors, our separate companies had both been serving the Houston area for over 50 years, with remarkably similar stories.Buffalo Floor Covering was started in 1965 by Glenn and Irene Buffaloe. Irene ran the books while Glenn cleaned carpets. It wasn’t long before he added carpet sales, and from there the company took off.Around the same time, Floors and Up’s began selling carpet door to door. Within a few years, a small showroom was established. Over the next decade, the company expanded into custom carpets, hardwood, laminate and tile.
In the early ‘80s, both companies were outgrowing their spaces and moved into new, 10,000 square foot warehouse and showroom buildings. Over the next 30 years, the two companies grew into powerhouses within the industry, serving residential customers as well as builders, apartment complexes, hotels, retirement homes, restaurants, office buildings, and high-rises.With histories so similar, and a shared commitment to unparalleled design, quality installation, and award-winning service, it was only a matter of time before both companies became one.
Today, we continue to grow our services and source new surface options.
